We prevent your cows from doing the splits by grooving your concrete floor. My grooves are ¾” wide spaced 3-½” apart. For maximum protection we groove a diamond pattern.
Straight Concrete Grooves
Straight grooves allow your cow to walk with them, preventing slipping and splitting out. Straight grooves can also help prevent slipping in large, open areas, such as cow yards. Straight grooves are beneficial because if your cow slips, the groove will catch its hoof before it splits. Cut-in grooves have a straight side from top to bottom so the hoof catches the groove, whereas floated-in grooves have a little radius towards the top that might allow the hoof to pop out.

Diamond Pattern Concrete Grooves
Diamond pattern concrete grooves, also known as double cuts, are the
most effective because they consist of straight grooves and diagonal grooves. With the diamond pattern, the cows get traction in any direction. This is especially beneficial in areas where they are doing a lot of pushing.
